Fairs and Festivals in Manipur

  • Baruni- :- The Baruni festival is celebrated on the thirteenth day of the dark half of Phairen (Jan-Feb). It is devoted to worship of Lord Shiva. It is introduced by Chandrakirti in the nineteenth century.
  • Cheiraoba :- In the month of April, the Cheiraoba celebrations are a joyous occasion for all. Houses are given a facelift with decorations and the deities bless the food eaten.
  • Durga Puja(Oct.) :- Durga Puja is celebrated in Mera (October) month. The main centre of worship of Durga Puja is the Kali temple of Imphal town.
  • Gaan - Celebrated by the Kabui Nagas, Gan-Ngai is a colorful blending of rituals, feasts and dances.
  • Tribal-Festivals :- The tribals have dissimilar festivals. 'Enghah' is celebrated during December. It continues for five days. The tribal enjoy with dance and drinks.

National Parks & Wild Life Sanctuary in Manipur

  • Sirohi National Park :- Sirohi National park was made in 1982 in the east district in an area of 41sq.km.The adjacent town in Ukhril at a distance of 5km. The adjacent airport is Julilal 50km from the park
  • The Keibul Lamjao National Park :- Temperatures range from a maximum of 34.4ºC to a minimum of 1.7ºC. The annual rainfall is 1220 mm. The area is most humid in August, with daily humidity measuring as much as 81 per cent. March is the least humid at 49 per cent
